Laid down during the war for the Ministry of Transport as the Empire Mercia, she was not completed until after the armistice, she was acquired by Blue Star Line while fitting out.
 
Transferred in 1950 to Lamport & Holt Line Ltd., Liverpool
 
She was sold in 1971 to Long Jong Industrial  Co. Ltd., Taiwan for demolition and handed over 20 October 1971 at Kaohsiung, demolition commenced on the 10 December 1971.
