Triple expansion engine with 3 cylinders of 28, 47 & 78 inches diameter respectively; stroke 60 inches; 550 horsepower; engine by J. Jack & Co. in Liverpool.
The sister ship to
she sailed from Liverpool to New York on her maiden voyage in 1881.
In 1884 she was fitted with refrigerated holds and used on the UK - Tasmania - New Zealand - South America trade by the joint White Star / Shaw Saville service.
She was fitted with new engines in 1895.
In 1906 she was sold to Pacific Mail and re-named
Later in 1915 she was sold to Japan and re-named
She was scrapped in Osaka in 1926.
