In the Kylsant era (1909-1931) Elder Dempsters had pioneered deep sea-going diesel engines for for Obuasi, engineering director Alan Bennett having decided that a five-cylinder B&W single acting two stroke should be installed; it produced 3,750bhp and a service speed of 13 knots.
 
Sold 1972 to Anglo-Pacific SA, Hong Kong  (Anglo Eastern Shipping Co Managers) renamed Amoy,  registered in Mogadishu, Somalia
 
9th August 1972 standed near Cape Negrais, at mouth of Irrawaddy River, whilst on voyage from Penang to Calcutta, declared a constructive total loss.
