Nicknamed "Cherry B" and accordingly wore a funnel badge depicting a bunch of cherries and a bee.
 
Charybdis was the last ship built for the Navy by Harland & Wolf until RFA Fort Victoria in the early 1990s.
 
Charybdis was in attendance at the 1977 Silver Jubilee Review of the Fleet at Spithead.
 
Decommissioned September 30th 1991.
 
She was sunk as a target on 11th June 1993.
