Built in 1896 as a cattle carrier by Harland & Wolff, Belfast for Wm. Johnston & Co. Ltd.
 
On 7th February 1917 she was torpedoed and sunk in the Atlantic 20 miles west of Fastnet Rock in position 51.17N 10.03W by the German submarine U-85 while on voyage Baltimore to Liverpool with general cargo. 39 of the crew of 63 took to the boats but two died of exposure before being rescued ten hours later. 26 lives lost.
 
The Vedamore was one of three sister ships, all of which were either wrecked or sunk.
