The vessel was under construction at Caird & Co. of Greenock when the yard was taken over by Harland & Wolff in 1916, Caird's ship number was retained.
 
29th May 1918 requisitioned by the Admiralty as HMS Naldera for use as an Armed Merchant Cruiser and was used as an escort.
14/th March 1919 returned to Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company
Arrived at Bo'ness for breaking by P. & W. MacLellan Ltd. 21st November 1938
