British Trust was one of the 21 12,250 DWT ships built for the company prior to the outbreak of WWII. One of 6 built by Harland & Wolff, Govan, and completed 19th January 1939.
 
She was in convoy 25 miles N of Benghazi, when she was torpedoed and sunk by German aircraft. Ten crew members were killed.
 
She was on route from Alexandria for Malta with a cargo of heavy fuel oil.
