[Gumtree]

A  full rigged (three masted) cargo ship was jointly owned by Mr Samuel Lawther and Mr Thomas Dixon - the management apparently being given to Mr Lawther on the toss of a coin.

Unfortunately the E J Harland had only a short life sinking after a collision at sea while on a voyage from Ardrossan to New York in 1879.  The crew were saved.
