Built for the jute trade she was acknowledged to be a fast ship, sold into the famous French fleet of A. D. Bordes in 1894 renamed Rancagua.
 
Sold back to Britain in 1902 renamed to her original Slieve Bawn, owner J. D. Thompson.
 
She was wrecked at Baira Rio Contas about 70 miles south of bahia on the Chilean coast in November 1904.
