 HMS Hecla

Was bought by the Royal Navy as the merchant ship hull British Crown. She had a dual role as a mine and torpedo carrier and as the mothership to six 2nd-class torpedo boats. She also acted as a mobile school for torpedomen.
Hecla had a two-shaft compound engine providing 2400 iHP and giving her a best speed of 13 knots. She was an unarmoured ship. Her armament consisted of five 64-pounder muzzle-loading rifled guns, one 5 inch breechloading rifled (BLR) gun, one 40-pounder BLR gun and four fixed torpedo tubes.

In 1912, HMS Hecla was modernised and rebuilt as a destroyer depot ship, serving until being sold for breaking up in 1926.
