Launched by Princess Margaret for the BTC (BP) on September 16th 1948 & completed by Harland & Wolff on December 29th 1948.
 
On March 27th 1962 she was involved in a serious collision 18 miles off Ushant & sank the Palmyra, a West German vessel of 1,944 gt.
 
British Mariner berthed on the Tyne for inspection but was found to be beyond economical repair. On May 1st 1962 she was towed to Bruges for demolition & work commenced on her by Bruges Scheepsslopij S.A. on May 5th.
