She was the sister ship to the Themistocles. She did her maiden voyage from London to Melbourne via the cape of good hope in thirty-six days.
 
During the great war she served as a troop ship, resuming her Australian service in 1920.in 1928 she and her sister were under the management of Oceanic, but still on the same route ,including Brisbane now .
 
In 1929 she now sailed for Australia from Liverpool, as opposed to London.
 
In 1931 she was broken up at Jarrow.
