Built as British steam tanker War Expert (5198 tons), completed March 1918 for Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Co, London; 1921 renamed Anomia for same owner; 1927 renamed Norwegian Andrea for A/B Brovigseil, Farsund; 1933 sold to Thos. Brovig, Farsund; 1938 renamed Italian Mugnone for Ditta Marino Querci, Genoa and converted to steam merchant.
On 10 Jun, 1940, the Mugnone was seized by Britain at Newcastle and was renamed Empire Progress by Ministry of War Transport (MoWT).
 
13th April 1942 torpedoed and sunk by U Boat (U.402) on voyage Glasgow to Tampa, Florida..
