Ordered by Petersen & Co. London to be named River St. Lawrence, sold on the stocks to British Motorship Co. Ltd and completed as King James.
 
The motor ship King James, which was completed last month, was launched as the River Ottawa for Messrs. Petersen and Co., London, but the name of the vessel has since been changed. She was built by Messrs. D. and W Henderson, and is 400 ft. in length, with a beam of 55 ft. 6 ins. and a depth of 37 ft. 9 ins. The deadweight capacity is about 8,000 tons. A six cylinder H&W- B&W. engine is fitted. Developing 1,850 b.h.p. and having a bore of 740 mm. and a stroke of 1.500 mm. The engine speed is 90 r.p.m. The auxiliary machinery in the engine-room and on deck is all electrically operated and Diesel engine driven generators are installed in the engine-room. The King James is for the British Motorship Co., Ltd.
