Known as the "Imperial Yacht" Oceanic, White Star Line's first passenger ship, was in every sense "state of the art." She was the White Star Line's first ship built for the transatlantic run, with her name inspired from the company that was the White Star Line's operators, the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company Ltd.

Her hull was a marvel, a knife-like prow, and a length 10 times her beam. Four sailing masts with one short funnel.

The White Star Lines first passenger ship was sold for £8,000 and left Belfast for breaking up on the Thames on 10th February, 1896.
