Built as a lake passenger-cargo vesse at Pointhouse, Glasgow for the Nyasaland Railways.
 
Shipped in sections to Chipoka, Nyasaland where she was reassembled and launched as the Mpasa.
Fitted out with diesel engine, one shaft speed 9 knots.
 
1936 In service on the lake.
 
She was the first vessel ordered by the Nyasaland Railways after the railway was extended to Chipoka on Lake Malawi in 1933.
 
After 1951 the Mpasa was only used as a cargo vessel after the Ilala II came in service.
 
1967 Converted in a tanker by Malawi Railways.
 
1993 out of service and her future is uncertain.
 
2011 Can not find any trace more of her, so most probably scrapped or still rusting away..
