On April 23 1942 the corvette HMS Buttercup was manned with Belgian Navy personnel.
 
She escorted many convoys, she  also took part in the landing in Normandy on June 6 1944
Sold to the Royal Norwegian Navy and renamed Nordkyn. Served as corvette until 1950 and then reclassified to frigate.
 
In 1956, she was bought by A/S Thor Dahl, of Norway, converted to a Whale Catcher and renamed Thoris.
 
She was broken up in Norway in 1970.
