Asiatic Steam Navigation Company Limited increased its fleet to five in 1880 when Peshwa, the company's first 2,000 tonner was launched.
 
The  Peshwa was wrecked on the Pilot's Ridge when on passage from Calcutta to Rangoon on the 24th of June.
