 On the 9th January 1943 when on route from Lagos & Takoradi for Hampton Roads & UK carrying a cargo of 5,054 tons of palm kernels, palm oil & rubber when she was torpedoed by German submarine U-511 and sunk. 3 crew lost from a total of 63.
