Rifleman James Quinn 9/13407, 9th (Service) Battalion Royal Irish Rifles (West Belfast Volunteers), killed in action on the opening day of the "Somme offensive" otherwise battle of "Albert," 1st July, 1916. Son of Hugh and Sarah Quinn nee Jamison ; Husband of Margaret (Maggie) Quinn nee Scott, of 280 Conway Street, Belfast. Deceased was forty years of age, and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing, Thiepval, France. Panel Ref. Pier and Face 15 A and 15 B. Rifleman James Quinn was entitled to the trio of medals, 1914-15 Star, British War, and Victor medal.
