Pictured above "clocking out" for the last time is Fitter Albert Brown, Ship Repair Department, who retired last month (October 1975) after completing 45 years' service with the Company. The handsome clock Albert is holding is actually a gift for Mrs Brown and was handed over on behalf of his colleagues by Assistant Manager Jack McAlees (right), Albert's own gift, an inscribed wrist watch, had been presented to him a few minutes earlier by Mr William Baxter (left), Head of Ship Repair Department, When asked about his retirement plans, Albert told our reporter, "I intend to relax and maybe do a little motoring, but when the good weather comes back you'll find me down at our caravan at Newcastle."
