To mark his departure a presentation of a “1000 day” clock — the gift of friends and colleagues at Musgrave Yard slips where he had worked for many years—was made by Manager Ship Production Hull Department, Jack Kirkpatrick. ‘Sam my,” said Mr, Kirkpatrick, “was always prepared to take’ a load on his shoulders Without grumbling. He was a quietly efficient man.” At a farewell party which was held in his honour in the Staff Club, Sammy was given a watch for himself and one for Mrs Crooks.
