Painter David BleakIey - To mark has retirement he workmates, not content with a formal handshake and good wishes, decided to "say it with flowers" and decorated the mess hut at the Outfit Quay for the occasion. Their parting gift to David, however, took the form of a more permanent reminder of their affection. It was a wall clock which was presented on their behalf by Junior Apprentice William Young. Except for his war service David served continuously with the Company from 1930 until he retirement on Friday, 23rd March 1978.
