Harland and Wolff - Shipbuilding and Engineering Works

(Reference: TY-048)

Despite the fact that Supervisor William Caldwell, of Engine Works Production Control, was at "the beck and call" of a great many people, he always carried out his duties in a pleasant and gentlemanly way. This tribute was paid to him on his retirement on 30th September, 1975, after 40 years' service with the firm, by Production Control Manager William Curragh, who presented him with a transistor radio on behalf of department colleagues and E. W. Management. A gold wrist watch - for Mrs Caldwell - was handed over by E.W. Production Manager Alan Brew. Another gift for William - a rocking chair - was too large to be brought to the presentation and was sent direct to William's home, William won't, however, have much time for "jes' sittin' and rockin'" for he is an enthusiastic indoor bowler and also an active member of the Harlandic Male Voice Choir, of which he is a foundation member.
